Indirect Taxes
On behalf of the WBG, Jerome De Henau and Cristina Santos have produced an examination of the UK government's main changes in indirect taxes from a gender perspective.
This considers changes in excise duties on alcohol, tobacco, fuel and in VAT, and analyses the combined effect of these changes, together with changes in insurance premium tax, air passenger duty and gambling duty.

Voices of Experience Participatory Research Project
From 2006 to 2007, the WBG carried out a project which aimed to help women in poverty engage in the policy-making process.
We produced Engaging and Empowering Women in Poverty: Executive Summary and Full Report.
More information on this project is available from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, who provided funding for this work alongside the Barrow Cadbury Trust.
In 2011, the WBG carried out a follow up project in partnership with Platform 51, funded by the Feminist Review Trust.
A resource pack for campaigners was produced, based on workshops carried out with women at Platform 51 centres in Warstones and Bilston in Wolverhampton.
The resource pack is free to distribute to all who are interested: Making Your Voice Heard - a women's toolkit for local lobbying.
You can also download a colour print-friendly version [5Mb], and a black and white print-friendly version [4Mb].
Analysis of tax and benefits by gender - June 2011
With support and advice from the WBG, the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the Fawcett Society released an analysis of the impact of the UK Government's tax and benefit reforms by sex.
This is the first piece of research of its kind to be carried out. It provides an example of simple but meaningful analysis that the UK Government should be carrying out - but currently does not - in order to fulfil its legal duty to pay 'due regard' to the impact of its policies on equality between women and men.
You can read the IFS's full report on their website, as well as the Fawcett Society's digest of the research: Single Mothers, Singled Out.
