Early Education and Childcare Coalition launches Rescue and Reform Manifesto

The manifesto calls on all political parties to put early education and childcare at the heart of their plans for equality, opportunity and growth.

Responding to the release of the Early Education and Childcare Coalition’s new manifesto today, Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson, Director of the Womens’ Budget Group, said,

“Polling published today to mark the release of the new manifesto of the Early Education and Childcare Coalition demonstrates that a significant majority of voters in this country believe that every child has a right to access early education and childcare regardless of their parents’ financial background.”

“At the Women’s Budget Group we have long argued that high-quality early years education is one of the best investments a government can make to ensure that children get the best start in life. Today’s findings once again underscore that the public recognises the overall benefits of making this investment, not just for children and parents, but for society as a whole.”

“With a general election on the horizon, this manifesto is an important roadmap for a future government on what early years reform needs to look like if we want to move towards a system that truly works for everyone, for children, parents, providers, early years professionals and the economy.”

“We are proud to have developed the Coalition and now to host it – and play our part in what we hope will be a vital step towards transforming early education into a thriving sector.”
