Early Education and Childcare Coalition

In 2022, the Women’s Budget Group began developing a new coalition uniting different voices across the Early Education and Childcare sector, from parents, children, and providers, to those working in the sector, and the wider business community. Continued underfunding, rising costs, and workforce pressures created a growing need for collaboration among all those impacted.

The Spring Budget in March 2023 recognised the importance of the sector in underpinning the economy, but proposals failed to address the underlying structural and funding crises that have become a hallmark of recent policymaking, as WBG has set out in our Budget Response.

The coalition wants to change that.

Bringing together 30 brilliant and passionate organisations, including children’s charities, parent campaign groups, provider membership bodies, anti-poverty campaigners, NGOs, trade unions representing early educators, and business lobbying groups, the Early Education and Childcare Coalition is formally launching on September 7 2023 and will move forward with a programme of influencing and research work designed to keep early education and childcare firmly on the political agenda ahead of the next general election.

The coalition will be working with all political parties to shape the future of policy in this area, bringing insight and knowledge from experts in the sector as well as those with lived experience of the challenges on the ground.

Follow the Coalition on TwitterFacebook, Instagram and LinkedIn and don’t miss out on any updates.
